The psalmist of Psalm 38 feels that God is chastising him physically. The psalmist is determined to stay near to God and wants deliverance. While Psalm 38 is about God interacting with people, the author of Psalm 39 feels that God isn’t communicating the way he would wish. He wants to know how he fits into God’s plan. In Psalm 40, we are being encouraged to praise God because he is faithful and steadfast to his people. We can reflect on how we experience God and what we want to say to God. Maybe we want to praise, or maybe we want to hear God more.
