Psalm 119: 105 – 176

Today’s selection is part of a long psalm which is divided into 22 sections, with 8 lines in each section. Each one of these sections corresponds to a letter in the Hebrew alphabet. One Hebrew letter begins each of the 8 lines in one section, then another letter in begins each of the 8 lines in another section, etc. (Harper-Collins Study Bible). The psalm is all about following God’s Law (also called commandments, precepts, ordinances, etc.) Parts of the psalm call out God to act, and the psalmist is being persecuted sometimes. We can think how we feel when people misunderstand us or give us a hard time, for example, at work.
