“Let’s Remember Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.”
As we see on the news and various social media platforms, the events surrounding the George Floyd tragedy, let’s remember the words of the late Civil Rights Activist Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during his speech at the Washington Monument in August 1963.
His historical speech included, of course, many bible references.
I feel that the following two deserve attention at present.
This passage, in brief, says we are all one in Christ. This means, simply put, that we are all beloved regardless of ANY differences as we are all made in the image of God.
In another quote, Isaiah 40: 4-5,
Dr King highlights Isaiah’s dream of social justice and racial equality, which was in line with God’s dream for all of us.
In my opinion, the pivotal factor in all of this is love.
As in 1 Corinthians 13
“… love is patient, love is kind, it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude; it is not self-seeking. It is not easily angered; it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth.”
If we can love others as Christ loves us we will surely overcome!
